Going Greek Dresser

I am happy to announce, I am painting furniture again.

However, this piece was painted months ago. I just never took photos of it. Then I was never home, and it was at the back of the garage. But yesterday was the day.

Here is the before.

photo(10)A beautiful, sturdy piece. However, it was pretty banged up. But my plan was to transform this with my newest Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color, Greek Blue.

263Since I only use my tried-and-true wet distressing technique, this was a quick project. After applying the paint all over, I let it dry (a few hours tops), and distressed with a damp sponge.

260The paint came off easily to show the gorgeous dark wood.

255I wanted to make the detailed hardware pop against the blue, so used my Grecian Gold Rub’n Buff (check out how to use it here). Look at that tray of hardware!

262The hardware looks great and accents the blue. Greek and more Greek. Perfect. 253This blue is just lovely. I love the brightness, and yet it is not harsh. I am working on another project with Greek Blue and it looks wonderful. You’ll see it when it’s all done, hopefully soon!

This is a great piece because it could easily function as a buffet or a dresser. The doors reveal two more large drawers.
