In case you can’t tell from the title of this post, our bedroom is now grey.
Remember when I shared my inspiration for our room? Well, it’s coming together. I had been wanting to do a lot of things to our bedroom. And recently, a lot of it has happened.
I like where things are going.
We recently started on a major budget overhaul thanks to Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (read about it here). But budget cuts means slower and smarter home projects.
And one of the easiest ways to do this was to use the paint I already had. When I painted our living room several months back I bought too much paint. Fortunately, I really like the color. Actually, after I painted our living room I then painted our bathroom (yup, the infamous “one-day reno”), then our bedroom, our dining room, and there is just enough left for the kitchen. Bam.
It’s Granite Dust by Valspar, a lovely medium-tone grey.
Our duvet is a light grey and we have dark grey nightstands, so grey is definitely ok with me. Have I mentioned I love grey?
Let’s take a little walk down memory lane and look at our bedroom, before….
So since my work start date had gotten moved back a week I seized the moment. I moved everything to the middle of the room and got excited.
The valances came down and so did the crossbars on the windows. They may look cutsie and cottage-y, but they were not permanently attached (so not very nice) and made the window look smaller.
I painted without taping off (this was actually the first time I did that) and it was great. I hate taping off.
By the end of the day, my arms were tired and my hands were cramped and a little blistered (geez I must really get into the rolling).
But it was worth it.
It looks awesome. Our bedroom looks so much bigger, lighter, and… us. Isn’t it crazy how paint makes things personal?
It’s safe to say we are lovin’ the grey paint.
What’s left on the list for the bedroom?
- Bamboo blinds
- Paint trim
All in time. But hopefully not a lot of time.
