With the makeover of our kitchen and it looking so pretty, I wanted it to really shine. Our new lights make such a difference!
However, pre-makeover the lighting in there left something to be desired. The canned lights were usually extremely dim… and yet *sometimes* flickered a bit brighter. Needless to say, the room felt dark. And my plan for black countertops was not going to help that.
Here’s the lighting in our kitchen before- pretty dark.
Our budget is tight. But lighting is not cheap. Especially cute vintage-looking flush-mounts like I wanted. A lot of them were almost $100 each! And that was a bargain. Fortunately I found these vintage-looking semi-flush mount lights at Home Depot… for $30! I had actually admired them before for their simplicity. And they go perfectly in our new kitchen with the black counters and white subway tile.
So we snagged two of them along with 2 recessed light conversion kits for $13 each. The hubby did that part and installed the new lights while I painted the cabinets.
