I love it when people have a vision for their home.
Recently I have done a few custom pieces where clients knew exactly what they wanted, and I was able to help them achieve it. I’ll be sharing a few more of those pieces soon!
In this case, a friend spotted this slatted coffee table and end table set that I posted on Instagram and claimed it.
We got a chance to chat about what she wanted it to look like and she knew right away: yellow.
I was giddy. I hadn’t really done a yellow piece yet and couldn’t wait! She chose Arles in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint for the color and I got started. We discussed that since the wood was light, distressing wouldn’t be too obvious, which was exactly what she wanted.
It took 3 coats of paint to cover these babies and it was no small task. All. those. slats.
But in the end after all that paint, a little distressing, and sealing with wax, they were all done.
This set looks so cheerful and fun now! This color yellow can really act as a neutral as well. It doesn’t grab your attention as much as a citron or sunny yellow so it works well with other colors in the room without competing too much.
What do you think of this yellow set? Do you use yellow in your home?
