Sometimes you just have to try again. The first attempt isn’t always a winner.
Remember this light blue art deco dresser?
Well, It just wasn’t jiving with me when I was done with it. The color was a little too saturated for me. But it went into the booth and sat. And sat. And if I was in love with it I would be ok with that and wait for the perfect owner to come along. But I wasn’t in love.
I needed another shot.
I mulled over possibilities but the fate was sealed recently when this other art deco dresser was moved front and center at BrickCity as a display piece for the holidays!
The owner mentioned that I should have a backup ready because whenever my pieces are on display they sell quickly! She was (partly) joking, but I thought it was a great idea. And, the crisp white paint and gold hardware on an art deco dresser is pretty perfect.
So I started over. I painted right over the blue, planning to not distress. I think the clean look is best for these more modern, deco pieces.
I gave the dresser three coats of Picket Fence and waxed with Trewax.
This is the first time I used the Trewax over a white and I loved it! I sprayed the hardware with Krylon Gold Plate spray paint.
Ah. What an improvement.
This piece is ready to find a new home- priced at $225. Available at BrickCity Emporium.
