Happy Monday! I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving. We (I) decorated the house for Christmas last week and I am smitten this year. Be watching for many more posts about our Christmas home and the projects I did to make it!
I challenged myself this year to make Christmas decorating look incredible for cheap.
I got this homemade “trough” recently at a garage sale and knew it would make a great centerpiece!
Decorating this trough is simple and I stuck to some of my tried and true decorating principles.
The trough is pretty deep which is great for some fillers but I didn’t need so much depth for this so I stuffed newspaper in and covered with plain tissue paper.
For added height and function I added three stump candle holders we made.
Then for more added natural look I used a long faux pine bough with the stems pointing up.
I added pinecones next. They are good anchors and background fillers.
Large silver glittered ornaments were scattered in.
Completed with smaller green ornaments.
I LOVE the mix of rustic and glam.
A trough like this is such a utilitarian piece that can be used all year round with different fillers like fruit or flowers!
What do you think of our festive centerpiece for our coffee table?
