De-Cluttering the Bathroom

The theme of 2015 has been de-cluttering and simplification.

We had a huge garage sale a few months ago where we got rid of a bunch of stuff. We threw away a ton and have been donating a lot too. Anything we don’t use regularly, need, or absolutely love, is not staying.

And why should it? I have no need for mediocre things in my home.

As we’ve been de-cluttering, I’ve been rethinking a lot of the surfaces in our home. We have beautiful furniture that I want to shine. I don’t want a bunch of stuff covering things. Not only does it look cluttered and uncurated, it makes it difficult to clean.

About the only exception to this is our mantle. :)

The newest of my de-cluttering efforts is our bathroom counter. We have a single sink vanity which leaves the left side of our vanity room for lots of clutter.

Toothbrush holder, Mason jars of Q-tips and cotton balls, and various items that hold jewelry. It was all fairly neatly organized but there was still so much on the counter. And it wasn’t pretty.

I started going through all of the stuff underneath our sink first, getting rid of medications that were expired and moving things (first aid supplies, etc) to the guest bathroom where there’s more storage.

I used a little organizer for one of the drawers to to get things that we use most frequently off the counter. It holds things like toothbrushes, Q-tips, cotton balls, hair tires.

The jewelry got re-organized as well and I have a fun project to share soon!

It left our counter clean and beautiful. But, I still wanted it to look pretty so I brought a couple small things in.

It makes cleaning easy since you can easily pick them up and wipe underneath.

I have found that I am much more inclined to put things away since it looks like this. Everything looks so much better and I am just in love.

Have you been de-cluttering lately? Have you been working in your bathroom?
