About Me

Thanks for stopping by All Things New Interiors! I love to re-imagine, re-do, and re-discover the beauty all around me. This started with crafts, led to furniture, and has expanded to my home. I dream about painting, furniture arrangements, and power tools. I have learned the value of a true do-it-yourself project and the pride it bestows in one’s work. I hope this blog can help you discover the inner DIY-er in you. It’s there!

  1. I love what you do with furniture! My mom is trying to paint a hutch for my husband and me for a wedding gift. She is new to painting furniture and we have been looking around for some “how to” websites. Can you help give us some direction?
    Thanks so much!

    • Amanda, Thanks for your comment and compliment! So glad you stopped by. If you looked at my furniture posts, you will see that I use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, which is a fabulous paint. It must be bought from a retailer or online and is a little pricey, but the paint goes a long way and is so easy to use! Especially for a large and likely detailed piece like a hutch, chalk paint is great because there is no sanding or priming needed! You just clean and paint! Again, this is great for pieces that have details because it can be hard to sand– and it is tiring. This paint also distresses very easily if that is the look you are going for. If you are wanting to use chalk paint, I give some basic how-tos in my furniture posts like , , . Other blogs have been my inspiration, and my favorites are , , , and .
Let me know if you need anything else, and good luck to you and your mom!
